Greaves - Manning Imperial

Reason for purchase

Needed for the thracian to wear, although they would equally do for a hoplomachus and possibly a dimachaerius.

Delivery

Delivery was on time, well protected and oiled for the duration of the travel the greaves had to make.

Initial Thoughts

The lines were clean on the emboss work, the fronts well polished. The backs had been left natural after the work, which seems to have been torch work to enable the embossing to be done, while this is not a problem for the greaves it required a little bit of work to rub away so we could hide the more obvious marks of 21st Century armoury work. The loops on the sides of the greaves, are well held with double rivetted figure of eight washers and have been more than strong enough for the abuse they have recieved. A compliant against some other greaves from other vendors has been that these loops have always come apart. No chance with these at all. All in all, very well made.

12 Months On

Apart froma few scratches on the knee areas of the greaves they look as good as the day they where bought, superb value.

The Greaves

These greave represent the best value for money that I have come across for teh superb quality of build.
