Who are we?

Ludus Gladiatorius is a group based that seeks to recreate something of the professional gladiatorial games and their history from 100-200AD. We are based in Fareham, Hampshire UK, and meet regularly to train each Thursday to practice our fighting and carry out research.

The society is formed primarily of theatrical fighters who have been involved in a number of TV documentaries (BBC, Channel Four, Documentary/History Channel etc...) however we also have some skills in fight choreography, leather work, blacksmithing, fletching and presentations. A number of our members have started the accredited BADC stage combat courses.

Fighting at Archeon If you would like us to take part in a particular show, filming, talk or event you are planning then please contact us and we will seek to arrange something with you. We have gathered extensive knowledge in historical events, private shows and filming. For the last we are able to repeat entire fights over and over allowing directors to get something a bit more for their projects above and beyond the simple 'shield push' so common to documentaries which use reenactors. All members are fully insured.

For a list of some of our past projects please go here.

Anyone is welcome to join the society as we have both combative and non-combative roles available, all equipment and costumes are supplied by us until such a time as you decide you want to buy your own.
