The Group.
Medicus Cato and harenarii from LEG II AVG remove an injured gladiator. Due to the large number of people involved in gladiatorial spectacle there is always room for new members, particularly those that are willing to take on roles other than gladiators as it is these people that truly make the event historically more accurate and enjoyable for the crowd. If you are interested in joining our group as either a non-combative or combative member then please email us and we can arrange a time to meet, or come along to one of our shows and say hello. You are always welcome to do either. As the winter approaches there is no better time to get involved as we have all winter to train and discuss available roles.

At historical gladiatorial events the arena may have been filled with up ten different job roles, not including the gladiators themselves. These jobs included musicians, arena attendants (harenarii), medical staff, people portraying gods (Dis Pater, Hermes Psychopompas), umpires, announcers and of course the editor or patron of the particular event.

Gladiators prepare for the days fighting with a salute to the editor. We are a society which seeks to recreate something of the flavour of the professional gladiatorial combat in the Roman Empire during the 1st - 2nd Centuries AD, through recreation at historical events throughout the United Kingdom and across Europe.
